Event Description

Prefer Kate Winslet’s Figure to Kate Moss's?

Tonight, Waifs Not Welcome!

Wearing size 12 and up doesn't mean that you're doomed to wear baggy or less-than-stylish clothing. How can anyone see how lovely your figure is if it's hidden under layers of cloth or squeezed unnaturally into ill fitting clothing? Clothes that fit right are always flattering.

The fashion faux pas made by plus size women are commonly known: Clothes too tight, clothes too loose, prints too loud, or colors too drab. While wearing clothes a size or two too big may feel comfortable, they do absolutely nothing for you- all that does is make you look big. And just because the teeny tiny video queens can pull off skin tight jeans and dresses doesn't mean everyone should. Loud prints do not equal hot; big patterns just draw attention to you and your size, rather than you and your shape. Beige and black will help hide you; however is that what you really want?

Since plus size clothing sizes aren't standard, the basic and advanced principles of plus size dressing are presented during this fascinating 90 minute seminar. You will learn how to understand size charts, make good shapewear decisions, conquer beach attire, by using your newly trained eye for your best balance and proportions. Fashion Societé will show how to remove the guesswork from knowing an excellent fit while you have fun with fashion and develop your own signature look.

Our speaker, Terri Murray, is one of NYC’s most sought after plus size fit and intimate apparel models.

The 6 Steps feature:
1. What a Difference a Good Fit Makes: Wearing the Right Size Bra
2. Your Body Type – 3 Key Challenge Solutions
3. The REAL INSIDE Scoop on Shapewear Products
4. Know Your Style – What is it?
5. Choosing a Flattering Swimsuit & How to Wear a Sarong/Pareo
6. The Challenge of Finding Fabulous Designer Plus Size Fashions

Ms. Terri Murray is a full time professional model, trainer and image consultant. With over 15 years of experience, Terri is considered an expert in the plus size fit and intimate apparel industry. She is a former FORD NY Model now signed with the Model Service Agency in Manhattan. Currently Terri serves as the President of the New York Tri-State Chapter of the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI), and as the Executive Director of the SOE (School of Esther NY) Academy, a Leadership and Social Skills program for teens. She is a former Regional Director of Fashion Group International (FGI) and was a full-time Lane Bryant fit model for 9 years.

Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. $39 per person [includes a very special bonus: a Gift Certificate for 30 minute private consultation with Ms. Murray]. These tickets will go very fast and space is limited.

Scene On The Street: Fashion Week 2012

We now see that all of those early predictions of what would be worn during fashion week, were way.......off! It's apparent from the many (chic) looks, that it's very cold in New York, and fur still reigns supreme. There were one or two signs of spring, such as those Simon Rocha white oxfords (I'm usually not a fan of white shoes, but God I love those!), and the two ladies who donned those gorgeous, printed pants. Still, many were a sight to behold!…See More

MFL Video: We Talk with Carol Pope!

While visiting PROUD FM last week, we got the opportunity to talk with Carol Pope! She is a Canadian singer-songwriter who always went against the grain. She's been active in the music industry since 1968! Carol would perform in leather & bondage attire in 1975, working along with other glam rockers such as, our favorite, David Bowie! We talked to Carol about fashion, her latest release Landfall and her working experience with Rufus Wainwright. Check out the video below! By Carcia…See More
