THE FOURTH ANNUAL INDEPENDENT HANDBAG DESIGNER AWARDS™

NEW YORK, NY, May 19, 2010- InStyle and Handbag Designer 101 today announce the finalists for the Independent Handbag Designer Awards ™ (IHDA) honoring excellence in design. Thirty-five finalists were selected from more than 900 submissions, up 35% from 2009. Winners will be announced June 16 at Parsons The New School for Design.

“The impressive 35 finalists share a common passion and commitment to innovative design, while being role models for entrepreneurship,” says Emily Blumenthal, founder of Handbag Designer 101 and the Independent Handbag Designer Awards.

Vote for your favorite handbag design at Instyle/IHDA, now through June 7, and enter to win the Audience Fan Favorite bag. Ariel Foxman, editor of InStyle, will present the Fan Favorite award.

The IHDA will honor Deborah Lloyd, co-president and creative director of kate spade new york, with the ICONOCLAST Award presented by Tim Gunn, chief creative officer of Liz Claiborne.
