Are Lower Heels the New Trend

Small heels are having a moment and team ELLE and our feet couldn’t be more delighted after years of struggling over cobbles en pointe in 5 inch heels.

This time around the demi heel (so much better than the kitten you see), is cooler and fresher. Coming in court, loafer or sandal form in a glorious array of colours and fabrics from studded leather to leopard printed pony skin, there’s a pair for to suit all styles ands budgets.

But how to wear them? From tailored…

Paris Trends: Pointy-Toe Boots

From the catwalks to the showrooms, ankle booties stole the show in Paris this season. Single-sole, pointy-toe versions made a chic comeback, with modest heel heights looking particularly sleek and sexy. Two-tone geometric lines took over on the Balenciaga runway and at Nicholas Kirkwood, while Tabitha Simmons and Pierre Hardy opted for mixed materials and metal hardware for a slightly harder edge. But whether the look is understated or heavily adorned, the single sole and pointed toe…

Trendy or not?

It goes without saying trends are miniaturized in size and duration, today. There are mainstream trends, of course, which last longer because of their planning and big budgets in advertising. But is something mainstream a trend, nowadays? I'm afraid the word is misused. Real trends should refer to the effort of individuals whose personality, creatie force and enthusiasm deserve to surface. And this is something that has little to do with the size and impact of the idea itself. Trends, in order… Continue

The Pajama Trend

I must say that I was initially soured on the idea of "pajama dressing," (before the runways made it fashionable), due to the fact that, the lounge pants in picture one, are much of what I've seen in my area as well as others for the last few years. So basically, people are wearing their pajama bottoms out and about looking as though they've just rolled out of bed....in some instances, that's probably the case! A look, made worse by the addition of a hoodie, UGG boots or thongs. That said, when… Continue

Trends: The Slip Dress

The dress of the season is the slip, and there’s one for every taste: shimmery taupe silk at the Row, minimalist black at Prada, diaphanous chiffon at Donna Karan, and bright turquoise lace at Marios Schwab. Delicate and sensual, it’s an easy, romantic solution for evening. But can something this bare be worn during the day without looking—or feeling—overexposed?… Continue

Trends: The Playsuit

I'm really loving the playsuit! It conjures up visions of those oh so fashionable ladies of the 40s and 50s lounging poolside. So versatile is the design, that many can be dressed up or down. For a cool evening, I would choose Haute Hippie (last pic., it's so...sexy!), for a sultry summer evening, I would go with Max Azria or bottega Veneta ( 15. & 16.). The latter would prove perfect for a night of dancing....just add platforms, chandelier earrings and a clutch.

For a day of… Continue
