Eyes of Laura Mars...A Learning Experience

Eyes of Laura Mars



I was inspired to write this short introduction to this film from 1978 starring Faye Dunaway called "Eyes of Laura Mars" by someone on a photography forum that said that some of my imagery reminded them of the film. I had totally forgotten how affected I was by this film as I had not yet been a photographer, nor had I ever considered the profession at that time.

The End of the Pro Photographer? Or perhaps a New Business Model?

Selling Out and the Stock Photography Dilemma!



Someone on another photography forum , stated that a photographer sold their image for a cover of TIME Magazine for $30. It was sold through a stock photography agency called iStockPhoto. That is sadly unfortunate. It also represents the present state of affairs for many photographers attempting to make a living by their craft.

Here is what I generally try to do before doing a shoot for a magazine. I will do a brain storming session and start to compile idea's for the shoot. Once the idea's are honed down, I will choose perhaps two or three of them and share them with the Fashion Editor of the shoot and get her/his feedback and go from there.
