We're nearly halfway through New York Fashion Week and already, trends have begun to surface. Beginning Thursday, with 'Boy Meets Girl'. Richard Chai's 'Richard Chai Love' collection featured activewear layered with Sequined Sheaths and trainers. Jason Wu showed a Collection which was inspired by the great Irving Penn. The collection boasted daywear which mimicked Penn's personal style, think button downs and slouchy trousers, then paired with Plaid Parkas trimmed in Fur which were then draped with Gold Leaf Chokers. Later, the fuller dresses were paired with large oversized Mens Jackets suggesting a smarter 'walk of shame', very Carrie Bradshaw. Granted, Wu wasn't necessarily Wu. The Debutante-esque gowns seemed sloppy as opposed to the Chic Streamlined frocks Wu is famous for. Nonetheless, the trend continued at Alexander Wang, where Wang put a sexy spin on the 'Wall-Street Look'; baring midriff and trimming Flannel Pinstripe with Lace. This past Sunday, Diane Von Furstenberg showed a collection for which she entitled, 'A Man's Life in a Women's Body'. Luckily, all of those Boyfriend Jackets which have been hot for quite some time, are still hot. Simply, pair them with the unlikely choice, a Ball Gown.

The Cape has resurfaced from Fall 2008, surfacing at Alexander Wang, Lacoste, and Y-3 among others.

With the absence of Gossip Girl from American TV waves, the Schoolgirl chic trend returned in numerous amounts of collections. Cynthia Steffe hiked hemlines and paired them with oversized jumpers and thigh-high socks. Generra's Runway debut also hiked hemlines with a splash of color. Plaid surfaced on the Karen Walker and Peter Jensen runways suggesting a sexier 'school uniform' of separates. Plaid also came into an edgier play over at Zero+Maria Cornejo.
Turbans have appeared on the Charlotte Ronson and Peter Jensen runways, as well as street-style veterans, Catherine Baba and Shala Monroque. Fuzzy gloves have slipped into the scheme of things over at Rag and Bone, where their menswear presentation featured shearling lined boxing gloves! Marc Jacobs even showed Fur-Trimmed handbags. Raccoon Tails even dispersed from Coat-Tails at Thom Browne. Chunky boots reminiscent of 90s Prada have clacked into things over at Alexander Wang with that extra four inches.

Despite all of the wonderful shows, Marc Jacobs was definitely the Highlight of the 'half-point'! The show featured Fur-Trimmed Rain Macs to the tune of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'. The 'Rays of Hope' glistened over the live webcast; Glitter, Gold, and Jamie Bochert...Oh My! The Rays of Hope among the depressing economy were definitely spot on, especially among a sea of camel and grey hues. The camel hues also made a cameo over at Zac Posen however, red came into play, adding some much needed punch, or rather 'Rays of Hope'. The grey hues showed up over at Donna Karan, which was especially strong and structured.
Make note of, 'Boy Meets Girl', Capes, 'Giddy Schoolgirl' ensembles, Fur, Red, and even Velvet come Fall 2010.
