The reason for such a great recurrence is probably due to the fact that people LOVE new things.
The News are called so because they carry fresh information. People love to read the news when they are new. What's the point of reading yesterday's newspaper? Wouldn't be better to call it, in that case, the oldpaper? 
Take New York, just to name one whose name is not NEW anymore, and precisely since when the Duke of York renamed New Amsterdam in the 17th century. It was a cool idea, back then, to come up with a new name for a settlement on the New World. The hell with the bloody Dutch people! New York's fame and fortune is due to its name that is a mantra, a condemnation to continuously innovate and refresh itself.
How about fashion? Our fantastic, creative and crazy world? How many times A DAY do you pronounce the word NEW? We need a new cut, a new colour, a new fabric, with new details, new solutions, new technologies.
" Our customers expect something new from the new collection and I want new ideas on the table before the beginning of the new season, otherwise you guys get ready to find a new job!!!"....
Wouldn't be nice, for all of us, to move to Old York?
